REHEARSALS ARE MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY 7.30 TO 9PM
Welcome to the Swinton & District Excelsior Band, proudly based in the charming village of Swinton, near Malton in North Yorkshire. Established in 1936 by a group of dedicated musicians, our band has a rich history of bringing music to the community, with our first performances held during the festive season to support the purchase of instruments and music.
Today, the band has grown to include over 30 active members in our main band and additional learners and beginners numbering over 25 budding and enthusiastic musicians. Our members span a wide age range from primary school children to those in their 70s and 80s, all united by a passion for music. Many of our young players continue their musical journey after leaving school to attend university, by joining other bands across the country and even internationally.
THE KINGS AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICES
In 2023, the band was honoured with the prestigious King's Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS), recognising the dedication and hard work of our volunteers and members. This award highlights our commitment to the community by offering free membership, lessons, and instrument loans, and by making a positive impact through our musical efforts.

VACANCIES
We always welcome experienced players in any section.
