Easingwold March contest 2019
MD Robin and Vice President Dorothy show off the trophy awarded to the Band as the Best 3rd Section Band at the Easingwold contest on the 1st June 2019
During 2016 , the band set about the large task of recording a CD, containing a range of pieces which would be featured during our 2016/17 programs. Over the course of the weekend, the main band and training band put in lots of effort, with a very positive outcome.
If you are interested in our CD, you can speak to any band member or alternatively send us a cheque and we will post one to you.
Over a weekend in January 2017 five members of the Championship-section band, Derwent Brass, from Derbyshire come along and shared their knowledge and experience with members of our band, helping us work towards the Area Contest in March of 2017, along with pieces which featured in our summer program. Derwent brass worked with both our main band and the training band, practicing a range of pieces which were performed in a concert on the Sunday evening. The workshop was a great success and the band look forward to organising similar events in the future.
Utsavan! A Celebration
Saturday 15th July 2017 saw us in the Milton Rooms, Malton to perform with award winning composer Shri Sriram. We performed a piece of music commissioned especially for us, Swinton Groove, composed by Shri and arranged for brass band by Andrew Castle, son of well known TV celebrity the late Roy Castle. Also involved with the concert, playing pieces written especially for them were the Thornton-le-Dale Ukeleles and the Malton based Harmonia Ladies Choir.
Every member or supporter of brass bands has seen and enjoyed the film ‘Brassed Off’. So when we were approached by the Easingwold Town Band to join them in a stage production we jumped at the chance. April 2018 saw a hectic round of rehearsals culminating in four performances in the Galtres Centre in Easingwold, playing to a full house each night. A completely new venture for our members, everyone found the experience great fun and very rewarding.
